Pool Service Questions and Answers

Tap a question to see the answer. These cover maintenance, water chemistry, repairs, and how our Glendale pool service works.

How often should my pool be serviced?

Most Glendale pools do best with weekly pool maintenance. Hot weather, sun, and seasonal winds change the water quickly, and a weekly visit keeps chemistry and cleaning on track. Busy commercial or HOA pools may need more frequent visits.

What happens during a weekly visit?

We test the water, skim the surface, brush walls and steps, vacuum as needed, empty skimmer and pump baskets, check the equipment, and add the chemicals needed to balance the water.

How often should the filter be cleaned?

Most pools benefit from a thorough filter cleaning several times a year, plus extra cleanings after storms or heavy use. Rising filter pressure is a good sign that a cleaning is due.

Do saltwater pools need regular service?

Yes. Salt systems still need salt level checks, pH control, and periodic cell cleaning, especially with Glendale's very hard water. See saltwater pool service for details.

Why does my pool have a white line on the tile?

That line is usually calcium scale. Glendale's tap water is very hard, and minerals dry on the tile as water evaporates. Pool tile cleaning removes it, and balanced water helps slow its return.

Why did my pool turn green?

Green water is almost always algae. It can grow when chlorine runs low, circulation stops, or debris builds up, and it spreads fast in hot weather. Our green pool cleanup service brings the water back.

Is clear water always safe water?

Not always. Water can look clear while sanitizer or pH is out of range. Regular pool water testing is the only way to know for sure.

What are signs my pump needs repair?

Watch for loud grinding or screeching, leaks, loss of prime, a pump that hums but will not start, or tripped breakers. Learn more on our pool pump repair page.

Is a pool service worth it?

For many owners, yes. A regular service keeps chemistry steady, catches equipment problems early, and saves the time spent testing, cleaning, and buying chemicals. Preventing one green pool or one burned out pump can make a big difference over a season.

How much does a pool service cost?

Cost depends on the size of the pool, whether there is a spa, the type of equipment, how much debris the yard produces, and which services you choose. Contact us with details about your pool and we will explain the options.

What are the 3 C's of pool care?

Circulation, cleaning, and chemistry. Circulation keeps water moving through the filter, cleaning removes debris and film, and chemistry keeps the water safe and balanced. Read more in our article on the 3 C's of pool care.

Can a green pool turn clear overnight?

A lightly cloudy pool can sometimes clear within a day. A truly green pool usually takes several days, because the algae has to be killed, filtered out, and vacuumed before the water is balanced.

Where does the dirt go when a pool is vacuumed?

Most vacuum setups send debris through the skimmer or a dedicated line into the pump basket and then the filter. That is why the filter often needs attention after a heavy cleaning. Some pools vacuum to waste, which sends the water and debris out of the system.
